When people think about wedding flowers, they often imagine soft whites and pastel tones. While we absolutely love creating timeless white weddings, some of our favourite designs are the ones that embrace rich colour and seasonal texture.

This installation reminded us why.

Combining deep burgundy roses, antique hydrangeas, textured chrysanthemums, anthuriums and flowing velvet ribbon, we created a design that felt romantic, dramatic and full of character. Every flower was carefully selected to create depth without overwhelming the overall arrangement.

LETTING THE SEASON GUIDE THE DESIGN

One thing we’ve learnt over the years is that flowers are always at their best when we work with the season instead of against it.

Rather than forcing a particular look, we enjoy seeing what’s naturally available and building a colour palette around those flowers. Seasonal blooms often have better texture, richer colours and greater longevity, making them perfect for weddings and special events.

This combination of burgundy, deep chocolate tones and fresh green hydrangeas felt beautifully balanced while still feeling luxurious.

CREATING MORE THAN JUST FLOWERS

When we’re designing wedding florals, we’re never thinking about individual arrangements on their own.

We’re thinking about how guests will move through the space, where photographs will be taken and how every element connects together.

The velvet ribbon, varying heights, sculptural flowers and layered textures all help create movement throughout the installation. We want people to notice something new every time they look at it.

Those little details often become the features people remember most.

COLOUR CAN COMPLETELY CHANGE THE FEEL OF A WEDDING

Colour has an incredible ability to shape the atmosphere of a celebration.

Soft whites create timeless elegance, while richer tones bring warmth, intimacy and drama. Neither approach is right or wrong—it simply depends on the feeling a couple wants to create.

We always encourage our couples to choose flowers that reflect their personality rather than following whatever happens to be trending that season.
