We recently had the opportunity to create the wedding flowers for this vibrant reception, working alongside the team at Glo Events. The brief embraced colour, personality and a sense of celebration, allowing us to design floral arrangements that felt playful, modern and full of energy.

Rather than following one traditional wedding colour palette, the room brought together warm oranges, pinks, blues, greens and soft neutral tones. The flowers needed to connect these colours without competing with the furniture, table settings and lighting. The result was a reception filled with layered floral details that helped every area feel connected.

A RECEPTION FILLED WITH COLOUR

The tables were styled with a mix of compact floral centrepieces, sculptural flowers and carefully selected foliage. We used bright seasonal blooms in shades of orange, pink, white and green, creating arrangements that stood out against the warm table linen and rich seating colours.

White orchids added softness and movement to the tables, while textural flowers brought depth to the smaller centrepieces. The different arrangement heights allowed the flowers to feel visually interesting without interrupting conversations between guests.

This is always an important consideration when designing wedding reception flowers. Centrepieces should contribute to the overall atmosphere while still allowing guests to comfortably see and speak with one another across the table.

FLORAL TABLE ARRANGEMENTS WITH PERSONALITY

One of our favourite elements of this wedding was the way the flowers worked with the other styling details. The coloured candles, amber glassware, curved table lamps and brightly coloured napkins created an expressive reception setting.

Rather than making every table arrangement identical, we used variations in flower type, colour and shape. This gave the reception a more natural and collected appearance while maintaining a consistent floral direction across the room.

The table flowers were designed to feel polished but not overly formal. Each arrangement added its own small moment of colour, helping guests discover new details as they moved through the space.

CREATING BALANCE IN A COLOURFUL WEDDING

Using several bold colours within one wedding requires balance. Too many competing elements can make a room feel disconnected, while too little variation can reduce the impact of the design.

For this reception, we repeated key colours throughout the floral arrangements and used white flowers and green foliage to create breathing space. This helped connect the warmer orange tables in the foreground with the cooler blue, pink and green elements throughout the rest of the room.

The flowers did not need to match every decorative element exactly. Instead, they helped bridge the different colours and textures, allowing the entire reception to feel intentional and cohesive.

WORKING WITH GLO EVENTS

It was a pleasure working with Glo Events to bring this wedding reception together. A strong collaboration between the event organiser, florist and other creative suppliers makes a significant difference when developing a detailed wedding setting.

By working within the wider event concept, we were able to create reception flowers that complemented the tables, lighting, furniture and overall guest experience. Every floral choice was considered as part of the complete room rather than as an individual decoration.
